Synopsis

En route vers un souper, un couple se dispute une place de stationnement avec un inconnu. Ce qui commence par un simple accrochage se transforme peu à peu en duel dont les échos dépassent la rue. Plus tard, autour de la table, entre éclats de rire et confidences, la soirée se déroule sous l’ombre persistante de cette confrontation inachevée.

La place est un thriller psychologique aux lisières du fantastique, où un conflit banal devient le théâtre d’une lutte pour la reconnaissance menée jusqu’à l’extrême.

On their way to dinner, a couple clashes with a stranger over a parking spot. What begins as a minor altercation gradually escalates into a duel whose reverberations extend far beyond the street. Later, around the table, between bursts of laughter and intimate confessions, the evening unfolds under the lingering shadow of this unresolved confrontation.

The Parking Spot is a psychological thriller on the edge of the fantastical, where a trivial conflict becomes the stage for a struggle for recognition pushed to its limits.

Louis Godbout

Louis Godbout est un scénariste et réalisateur vivant à Montréal. Formé en droit et en philosophie, il a enseigné la philosophie pendant quinze ans avant de se tourner vers le cinéma. Son premier scénario a été adapté au grand écran dans un film mettant en vedette Patrick Stewart et Katie Holmes (Coda, 2019).

Il a ensuite écrit et réalisé Mont Foster (2020), présenté en première à la Mostra Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo, puis Les tricheurs (2022), projeté dans de nombreux festivals au Québec et aux États-Unis. Il a reçu une nomination au Prix Iris du meilleur scénario pour le film Une révision (2021).

La place est son troisième long métrage.

Louis Godbout is a Montreal-based writer and director. Trained in law and philosophy, he taught philosophy for fifteen years before turning to filmmaking. His first screenplay was adapted into a feature film starring Patrick Stewart and Katie Holmes (Coda, 2019). He subsequently wrote and directed Mont Foster (2020), which premiered at the Mostra Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo, and The Cheaters (2022), screened at numerous festivals in the United States and Quebec. As co-writer of Une révision, he received a Prix Iris nomination for Best Screenplay.

The Parking Spot is his third feature film.
